Transportation, Housing & Urban Development: Integrating UAS Technology into National Airspace

The United States Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development held a hearing on UAS and the integration into our national airspace system. Three witnesses gave testimonies as the issues of drones and "rogue drones" were discussed in light of an increasing number of incidents where drones have threaten safety near airports. Testimonies were given by FAA Administrator Michael Huerta, the Deputy Director of the Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE) Marty Rogers, and Captain Tim Canoll, the president of the Air Line Pilots Association.

The opening statement at the hearing was given by U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Senate Committee on Appropriations.
